Get to Know Dr. Ward

Dr. Jeffrey Ward, is the optometric director of clinical services at Valley Eye Institute. He grew up in rural West Central Ohio where he enjoyed playing sports. His athletic endeavors gave him an appreciation for hard work and working with others for a common goal. This background seemed to be a perfect transition into the medical field.

Dr. Ward was the first optometrist to be residency-trained in ocular disease at the prestigious Cincinnati Eye Institute. In addition to his glaucoma interests, Dr. Ward founded the Valley Dry Eye Disease Center in 2016. This was the first clinic to be solely dedicated to the management of dry eye disease in West Central Ohio. Dr. Ward also enjoys medical missionary work and has been to Haiti several times. He helped establish a medical/surgical eye clinic at a Catholic mission in Kobonal, Haiti.

Outside of Valley Eye Institute, Dr. Ward enjoys spending time with his family, staying physically fit, and fishing. His wife, Jane, is currently the dry eye coordinator at Valley Eye Institute. His son, Jake, is following in his footsteps and will be attending Indiana University College of Optometry this fall. His daughter, Jordan, excels in dancing and will be starting her undergraduate work this fall.
